Last Anarchists Standing’s “Police State” Delivers a 1979 Punk Punch with Modern Edge on May Day

Last Anarchists Standing has dropped a powerful new single, “Police State,” from the upcoming EP May Day, set for release on November 5th. The track captures the raw, rebellious energy of 1979 punk while blending in a warm 1960s-inspired tone reminiscent of The Who. It’s fierce and melodic — a perfect mix of classic punk attitude and modern edge that hits hard but still feels fresh.

“Police State” bursts with fast-paced guitar riffs reminiscent of The B-52’s, layered over gritty, melodic textures that sway between chaos and control. The sound channels the wild spirit of The Only Ones and New York Dolls, while carrying a cinematic, underground flair like something out of a B-movie chase scene. The vocals are strong and commanding, weaving storytelling elements with flashes of Frank Zappa’s wit and early gritty Pink Floyd’s psychedelic undertones. The result is catchy, raw, and thought-provoking — a track that rocks with purpose and speaks to the present and future with unapologetic attitude.

The forthcoming EP May Day invites listeners to think freely, question authority, and remember that music can still be a form of resistance and self-expression.

Based in Los Angeles, California, Last Anarchists Standing is the creation of Loki X, who performs vocals, guitars, bass, and drums. Rooted in punk and alternative traditions, Loki X fully embraces the DIY ethos — writing, recording, and releasing everything independently. The May Day EP has already gained attention from several U.S. college radio stations and a few in France, setting the stage for a strong underground following.
