Inside TommyG’s Electric Summer in the Spotlight

What were you doing when you were 13? Probably not what TommyG just did. This young powerhouse just wrapped up a whirlwind summer that most artists twice his age only dream of, trading the Texas heat for the bright lights of New York City and proving that he’s got the talent and the drive to go all the way. From legendary rock clubs to the hallowed halls of Broadway training, TommyG is living the dream, and we’ve got the inside scoop!

This past July was a total game-changer. TommyG was hand-picked to be part of an international Global Band for the 4th Annual Come Together Festival by Kids Rock for Kids (KRFK). We’re talking about a ticket to the Big Apple to perform on stages that are pure rock and roll history! He belted out tunes at The Mercury Lounge, the iconic Bitter End, and the super-cool Drom. And the company he kept? A seriously talented crew of young musicians from all over the planet, including Japanese drumming sensation Yoyoka and Chilean bass prodigy Maximo. It was a fantastic experience, a chance to connect with other artists and perform in venues with incredible vibes.

But why stop at rock and roll when Broadway is calling? As if the festival wasn’t enough, TommyG also spent three intense weeks getting a world-class education at the Joffrey Ballet School’s Musical Theater Summer Intensive. This wasn’t just any summer camp; this is one of the most competitive programs out there, a true deep-dive into the world of Broadway performance. He trained in jazz, tap, acting, and singing with some of the best instructors in the business. Each week was a crash course in a hit musical, from Hell’s Kitchen to Wicked. The absolute highlight? TommyG was chosen for the lead role of Simba in their performance of The Lion King and delivered a performance that was nothing short of superb.

Even with all the New York excitement, TommyG hasn’t forgotten his Texas roots. He spent parts of his summer right here at home, charming local crowds at Opry shows in Alvin. He put his own fresh spin on country classics like Vince Gill’s “Liza Jane” and Chris Stapleton’s “Tennessee Whiskey,” proving his versatility and love for all kinds of music. He even knocked it out of the park at his school’s pop show with a killer rendition of “Die with a Smile.”

This electrifying summer feels like the real-life version of his 2024 original song, “Good Life Lovin’.” The track is a sun-soaked anthem about freedom, friendship, and soaking up every good moment. “The inspiration behind ‘Good Life Lovin’ was being able to experience the freedom of summer and be with the people that mean the most to you,” TommyG explains. It’s the perfect soundtrack for a kid who is seizing every single opportunity.

He is also giving major credit to his family and mentors. “The most important individuals are my dad because he helped me with a lot of things in my career,” he says. “Also my singing teachers helped me become the singer that I am today… The last individual is my sister because she was the person who inspired me to sing.”

At a young age, TommyG, who also rocks out with his band Z Alpha, has already built an incredible foundation. He’s a performer who can command a rock stage, shine under the Broadway lights, and connect with a hometown country crowd. With his talent, passion, and the incredible experiences he’s already collected, one thing is crystal clear: this is just the opening act for TommyG. You’ll want to remember his name.
