Wax On, Vibes Up: House Cleaning Records Offers First Vinyl Release, ‘HCR001- Adam Collins – Get Me Started EP’

There’s something special about holding a vinyl record in your hands, and House Cleaning Records (HCR) knows this better than most. Founded in 2021 in Seattle, WA, HCR has been quietly building a community centered on camaraderie, inclusion, and bold exploration in the House Music scene. Their first vinyl release, “HCR001- Adam Collins – Get Me Started EP,” is a testament to their mission and love for the genre.

For HCR, founded by Kyle Douglas and Jenn Sturgill, launching their first vinyl is a big milestone. The label may be young, but its roots run deep in House Music culture. Their passion for analog, vinyl, and the raw elements of House Music is at the core of their ethos. The label prides itself on nurturing talent across generations and collaborating with like-minded individuals, all while pushing the genre forward.

Choosing the right artist for their debut release was crucial for HCR. They wanted someone who embodied their label’s sound and mission, and they found that in Adam Collins of Euphoria Records. Adam is no stranger to the House Music world. As a longtime friend and mentor, he brought a level of trust and familiarity to the project that helped make it special.

We first met Adam and his partner, Zorana, at an event we co-produced with Restless Planet in Seattle in 2022,” says Jenn. “It was an instant connection. We knew we wanted to collaborate, and this project was the perfect fit.”

The process of refining each track was a collaborative effort between Adam and HCR. There were countless back-and-forth sessions, with Adam even joking that producing the EP felt like “making a baby together.” The result is an EP filled with heart, soul, and a lot of thought about what makes a track playable for DJs while staying true to the House Music sound.

The EP kicks off with “Get Me Started,” a high-energy track that brings a refreshing twist to Adam Collins’ usual Tech-House style. With rhythmic pianos, bongo beats, and a catchy Juno 106 bassline, this track radiates a summery, outdoor vibe. It’s happy, musical, and built to ignite the dancefloor.

Next up is “Upstart,” a funky, underground groover that was inspired during a trip to Chicago. After hearing a woman proclaiming, “Maybe you’re gonna have to sign some papers” on the street, Adam captured the moment in a quirky vocal sample that sets the tone for the track. It’s pacey, it’s groovy, and it’s perfect for those late-night sessions.

On the B-side, we have “Kucni Snimak,” which translates to “Home Movie” in Serbian. This deep, minimal roller is all about after-hours vibes. Written and recorded in a matter of hours in Belgrade, the track offers an easy-going, live-arrangement feel that’s perfect for winding down after a long night.

Finally, there’s “Vracar,” named after a neighborhood in Belgrade where Adam composed the majority of these tunes. This eclectic track was made using the MC 303, Korg ER-1, and a chopped vocal sample, creating a unique, stripped-down groove that captures the essence of late-night creativity.

This release stands out due to the thoughtful attention and personal touches infused by HCR. Each record is hand-labeled by the founders, lending it an authentic underground feel. “We’re leaving notes in some of the sleeves,” Jenn says with a smile. “If you’re lucky, you might get one!

In addition, those who purchase the vinyl will gain password-protected access to the digital versions of the tracks, ensuring that these digital copies are exclusive to vinyl buyers and not sold separately.

HCR was founded with a bigger purpose in mind. Kyle and Jenn wanted to create a label that not only produced great music but also fostered a sense of community. Their goal? To create safe spaces for artists, talent, and fans to grow together, explore new sounds, and celebrate the roots of house music while pushing it forward.

Kyle’s extensive background as a DJ, sound engineer and producer brings a unique perspective to the label. Having mixed on both vinyl and digital formats for over 23 years, he’s a rare breed in today’s music scene. His love for pushing the boundaries of House Music while staying true to its soulful roots can be heard in every track he touches.

Jenn, on the other hand, brings her event management and entrepreneurial spirit to the table. With over 15 years of professional background, she knows how to create experiences that leave a lasting impression. On top of that, she’s always looking for the next challenge—whether that’s in the music industry or on a snowy mountain.

Beyond producing music, the label offers a variety of services, from DJ mentoring and training to artist bookings, event management, and even remix collaborations. “This is just the beginning,” Jenn says. “We have so much more we want to do, and we’re excited to bring our sound and our community to new places.”
