80’s Stars ‘Moscow’ Deliver Epic 2025 Album: Glistening Synths, Atmospheric Vocals and Romantic Darkness

80’s legends Moscow return in 2025 with a debut album ‘Too Light To Be Late’ that gathers all their studio and live recordings from the early 1980s. Moscow deliver a signature early 80s sound rich with mysterious classic synths, deep and melodic vocals, and that unmistakable warm bass tone that defined the era. The atmosphere is romantic, chanting, emotional and dramatic, carrying shades of The Associates, Ultravox, Visage, Fashion, Tears for Fears, Pale Fountains and more.

The 80s produced a wave of pioneering bands with sleek futuristic production and stylish flair, and Moscow proudly stood among those innovators. Their sound balances dark and exotic synth textures with passionate guitars, shimmering electronics and soaring vocal moments. There is a touch of darker Duran Duran and The Lotus Eaters in the mood, yet Moscow maintain their own striking sonic identity.

Some songs pulse with energetic 80s rhythm, others lean into slower ballad territory with dramatic builds and emotional power. This album is packed with real songwriting, genuine emotion, and a glamorous, mysterious glow that carries beautifully into 2025. It feels like the right time for Moscow to rise again.

Moscow’s debut album ‘Too Light To Be Late’ arrives 31 October 2025 as a double vinyl, double CD and digital release. It features the band’s complete early 80s catalogue, including the 1983 double A-side Gabriel and You Might Say It’s Love. The collection also includes the 2010 digital singles In My Sleep and Of My Love.

Moscow formed in 1981 from members of The Odds, an indie band that gained Radio 1 airplay between 1979 and 1981. Vocalist Keiran, bassist Bill and guitarist Twig recruited Mark on synths and Jez on drums to evolve their sound into something forward-thinking and modern. The band built a new set from scratch as their gig calendar was already full, shifting away from The Odds’ raw punk-pop and moving into a sophisticated blend of synths and guitars with a melancholy yet playful tone.

In 1983, their single Gabriel sparked a UK mini-tour that finished with a BBC One Battle of the Bands final at Hammersmith Odeon. Moscow toured hard, appeared on BBC television and played to enthusiastic crowds, two of which are featured on this album. Although they never reached mainstream breakthrough, they built a devoted cult following that cherished their music.

The band paused in late 1983 but reunited in 2010 to open Party in the Park featuring Rick Astley and Bananarama, recording two singles for the occasion. This album includes the only recorded version of their final live song from that show.

If you love sophisticated synth-pop with a new wave edge, dive into Moscow and experience what fans once called the sound of “fun wrapped in melancholy.”
